How can I support the movement while distancing myself from it? It’s time to stand up for what I believe in

The founder of a popular cannabis website and marijuana consulting firm has apparently been hiding his involvement in the industry until now.  In an eye-opening personal article published on MarijuanaGames.org this week, site founder Russ Hudson revealed to his friends and family for the first time that not only is he a “stoner,” but also that his entire profession is based on marijuana.

In an interview late Monday afternoon, Hudson stated that he felt morally obligated to reveal his associations with marijuana;

“How can I support the movement while distancing myself from it?  It’s time to stand up for what I believe in,” he said.

Hudson is among a growing majority of Americans that support marijuana legalization.  A cannabis user for more than 25 years, he admits to having worked on both the legal and illegal sides of marijuana industries;

“In the past, everything had to be clandestine,”  Hudson said.  “The risks we took were enormous and a lot of people that I know paid a heavy price for their involvement.  But now that the world is waking up to the reality of marijuana, those days are numbered.  We’re closer than ever to gaining legitimacy.”

In his blog post titled Coming Out of the Cannabis Closet, Hudson reveals his associations with cannabis and takes on the notion of the stereotypical stoner using arguments based on his personal life.  For instance, Hudson claims to smoke a joint before he runs 10 miles every other day and uses this and other stories to demonstrate the fictitious nature of the stereotypical stoner.

Hudson began using marijuana at age 12 and became a daily user in his teens, keeping his use of the plant hidden for the better part of two decades.

Since his revelation, Hudson says that many people are supportive;

“Most people in my life had no idea about any of this, but as soon as I came out with it, I received a lot of support.  That’s a relief because I was tired of hiding.”

Russ Hudson is the founder and editor of MarijuanaGames.org and the director of CannabizConsultant.com.  Hudson’s article, Coming Out of the Cannabis Closet, can be read in its entirety here:
