The Weather Channel announced today that meteorologist and storm tracker Jim Cantore will be joining Sam Champion as co-host of AMHQ, the network’s flagship morning show. Beginning Monday January 26, weekdays from 7 - 10 a.m. ET, Champion and Cantore will follow Wake Up with Al, giving the network’s viewers a lineup of Al Roker, Sam Champion and Jim Cantore every morning from 5 - 10 a.m.

“Jim Cantore is the Weather Channel’s strongest and most experienced voice in the field.  There is one stronger force out there, Mother Nature... but we’ve already booked her too,” said Sam Champion. “While Jim will be in the studio regularly for AMHQ, the minute severe weather threatens, he will be out in the elements providing his insights and expertise.”

Also joining AMHQ will be meteorologist Jennifer Delgado, who will be debuting on January 26. The show will continue to give viewers a comprehensive look at the weather in their communities, with meteorologists and reporters out in the field providing unmatched coverage. Every day AMHQ features stories about Americans who are experiencing and surviving amazing weather, cutting edge graphics that explore the science behind the weather, and the network’s unrivaled lineup of severe weather experts. As a result, AMHQ provides all the weather stories and science a viewer needs to prepare for the day ahead.

“I have had the opportunity to cover weather events along with Sam for years and to join a morning show and work beside him is a thrill for me,” said Jim Cantore. “This new role is the best of both worlds, AMHQ and mornings are prime time for weather and I will continue to be out in the field giving viewers the severe coverage they expect from The Weather Channel.”

“Viewers have told us they want to know exactly when they can tune in and see Jim Cantore every day, so adding him to AMHQ makes it easy for them,” said David Clark, president of The Weather Channel. “The Weather Channel’s growing morning audience deserves the best in the business. AND they are here in one place... period,” Clark continued.

Along with the new lineup on weekday mornings, AMHQ is expanding to weekends. The weekend edition of the show will air from 5 - 9 a.m. ET and will be hosted by meteorologists Kait Parker and Reynolds Wolf. AMHQ weekends will give viewers everything they need to prepare for their busy weekends and will launch January 31.

Lastly, building off the momentum of AMHQ, The Weather Channel’s Maria LaRosa will be getting her own show and time slot on the network in an effort to extend our success into the important weekend morning block. Maria will be joined by Paul Goodloe and more details will be forthcoming.  And as previously announced, Mike Bettes will be hosting a new evening program beginning in late March.
