Tucson Print Company Giving Away Paper to Area School

Never underestimate the power of social media, even when you’re in the print business. When Tucson commercial printer CPGraphics was ready to send mountains of “spoiled” but perfectly good paper to the recycle bin, owner Jake Walker casually posted on Facebook an offer to give it away to a local school.

“ Help us find a great school to donate this massive amount of paper! We will be cutting it into 8X11 reams. Comment a school’s name below to enter.” That was his post on January 6th at 4:01 p.m.

In less than 24 hours, CPGraphics had received more than 1,000 requests for the paper on behalf of area schools. Nobody was more surprised than Walker, himself a parent of two young children. “I never dreamed there would be this kind of response. We’ve received a number of emotional pleas. I guess it underscores how needy our local schools really are,” he said.

If you missed the post, it’s not too late to enter your school. To nominate a school for the prize, visit CPGraphics official Facebook page and include the school’s name in your comment on the post. Only one school nomination per person will be counted. The more often a school is entered, the better are their chances of winning. The contest ends midnight MST Sunday, January 11, 2015. Winner will be chosen January 12th at 4:00 p.m. MST. Paper will be custom cut to the winning school’s request and will be delivered by January 19th.
