SolarCity Expands Operations and Services to Western Massachusetts

Agawam location is the company’s fourth in the state

Springfield, Mass. – WEBWIRE

SolarCity® (Nasdaq: SCTY) is expanding its popular solar service to Western Massachusetts with a new operations center in Agawam. The new operations center— SolarCity’s fourth in Massachusetts—will allow the company to serve a broad area across the western part of the state.

SolarCity makes it possible for many Massachusetts homeowners to go solar with no upfront cost and immediately pay less for solar than they pay for utility power. Massachusetts residents have experienced some of the fastest-growing utility rates in the country in recent years, and SolarCity allows homeowners to lock in affordable rates to protect themselves from rising energy costs. SolarCity will initially offer service to customers of National Grid and Western Massachusetts Electric in the region.

SolarCity’s expansion brings a significant number of local jobs—there are approximately 30 staff working out of the Western Massachusetts operations center today and the company plans to fill an additional 50 positions for the facility. SolarCity now employs more than 400 staff in Massachusetts and more than 8,500 nationwide. Candidates interested in employment opportunities in Massachusetts can contact SolarCity via its online jobs form at www.solarcity.com/jobs.
