Transmode wins Asian Innovation Award with Metro 100G

Transmode, a global supplier of packet optical networking solutions, today announced that it has been awarded the Optical Innovation Award at Telecom Asia’s Readers’ Choice Awards held at the Sheraton Hotel in Singapore, last night.

Transmode’s Mark Stevens, Vice President Asia Pacific, was presented with the Optical Network Innovation Award by John Tanner, Editor in Chief of industry publication Telecom Asia, for its development of the industry’s first fully-pluggable 100G metro solution with coherent optics. Key to the award win was the solution’s great flexibility, combined with the use of Transmode’s High Density and Low Power Design capabilities within the metro-optimized solution in both Layer 1 WDM and Layer 2 Ethernet applications.

The Telecom Asia Readers’ Choice & Innovation Awards are held annually to recognize the innovations and contributions to the industry by the leading telecom system vendors operating in the Asia Pacific region. The editorial team at Telecom Asia, along with selected analysts and industry experts, narrowed down nominations in September to a shortlist of 44 companies, before voting was open to its online subscriber base of service providers in early October.

On receiving the award, Mark Stevens commented, “We are particularly thrilled to accept this award as it comes on the heels of several other industry nominations for Transmode and strong demand for the Metro 100G solution from our customers across the globe. This award is particularly meaningful as it is determined by Telecom Asia’s readers. It shows that our recent technological innovation has been recognized in the APAC region and that we are addressing the industry’s needs. We are confident of growing demand for our metro-optimized pluggable-optics based 100G products for 2015.”

Transmode launched the industry’s first CFP-based all-pluggable 100G Solution for Metro networks with support for coherent optics in February 2014. Uniquely, the solution supports both Layer 1 WDM transport and Layer 2 Ethernet applications. It includes three flexible plug-in units for Transmode’s widely deployed TM-Series: a 100G Transponder, a 100G Muxponder and a 220G packet-optical transport switch (EMXP).
