LA Metro Transportation Authority selects Rockwell Collins’ ARINC Advanced Information Management System for light rail expansions

Annapolis, Md. – WEBWIRE

Rockwell Collins has been awarded a contract by the Los Angeles County Metropolitan Transportation Authority (LA Metro) to develop the supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) system for the Foothill Gold Line Extension and the Exposition Line Phase 2 light rail systems. The new light rail SCADA system will be based on the company’s latest ARINC Advanced Information Management (AIM®) rail system.

LA Metro is using the ARINC AIM rail SCADA and central traffic control functions to supervise and manage train operations, traction power and rail facilities for the LA Metro light rail service.

The agreement is in addition to an award Rockwell Collins won earlier this year to upgrade the LA Metro’s Red Line subway SCADA system to the latest version of the AIM rail system, which incorporates the American Public Transportation Association’s (APTA) recommended standards to prevent cyberattacks by securing control and communications systems in transit environments.

“LA Metro has been using the ARINC AIM rail solution for over 15 years,” said Denny Lengyel, staff vice president, surface transportation and critical infrastructure for Rockwell Collins. “With the upgrade to the latest version of the AIM rail software, LA Metro will continue to experience operational efficiencies and reductions in life cycle costs of its operations.”
