BASF contributes $34,000 to Washington County Alabama School System

Contribution highlights company’s commitment to science education and workforce development

MCINTOSH, AL – WEBWIRE

BASF – McIntosh contributed $34,000 to the Washington County Alabama School System. The funds will assist seven schools and the career technical center with making science engaging for students and support workforce development initiatives.

“BASF is pleased to support schools in Washington County,” said George Vann, Vice President of the BASF site in McIntosh, Alabama. “In addition to funding the schools directly, we provide scholarships to local students who are pursuing careers in the chemical industry. It is important to us that local students have opportunities to prepare themselves to be leaders in our industry.”

BASF employee volunteers frequently bring an interactive science experience called Kids’ Lab to children in Washington County, and use hands-on learning activities to promote Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) careers.

“On behalf of the Washington County Board of Education I would like to thank BASF for their generous contribution to our schools,” said Tim Savage, Superintendent of Washington County Schools. “Their continued support and leadership have provided Washington County students with educational opportunities in technology, to include robotics, that otherwise would not be possible. We look forward to a continued partnership as we strive to prepare students who are college and career ready.”
