Fourth Tenor Sings Love Duets Under the Stars on Bravo! - Duetti d’Amore: Andrea Bocelli in Concerto

August 29, 2006 -- The incredible voice of renowned tenor Andrea Bocelli is paired with the vocal talents of four accomplished sopranos as they perform some of the all-time greatest arias in the Greek Amphitheatre in Taormina, Sicily. Bocelli has experienced immense success singing both classical and pop music, but returns to his operatic roots to perform amid the memorable Italian landscape. This musical event staged under the stars at the magnificent amphitheatre airs on Bravo! September 16 at 9pm ET / 6pm PT.

Bocelli graces the stage alongside sopranos Raffaella Angeletti, Annamaria Dell’Oste, Desirée Rancatore and Patrizia Orciani to perform love duets ranging from Giacomo Puccini’s Tosca, Madama Butterfly, La Bohème, Manon Lescaut and La Traviata, to arias penned by Pietro Mascagni, Franz Lehár, Umberto Giordano and Gaetano Donizetti. Each soprano has a distinctive voice and creates a spectacular musical collaboration with Bocelli. The performances capture the romance and passion of the classic love duets, which have been part of the operatic tapestry for centuries. Celine Dion, Bocelli’s friend and duet partner for the Golden Globe-winning and Oscar-nominated song The Prayer, was once quoted as saying, “If God had a singing voice, it would sound a lot like Andrea Bocelli.”

Maestro Steven Mercurio conducts the Orchestra del Teatro Vittorio Emanuele of Messina in the Greek Amphitheatre, the second largest theatre in Sicily, which has the perfect acoustics for operatic performances. The well-preserved amphitheatre and stunning backdrop featured in the evening performance create a magical setting for both the performers and audience, and allow them to truly appreciate the beauty and brilliance of the various opera arias.
