Logan River Academy Reviews Releases Behind-The-Scenes Video

November 11, 2014 - The video titled, “Behind the Scenes at Logan River Academy” provides the viewer with a chance to hear students, parents and staff answer some of the most sought-after questions about Logan River Academy like, “Will my child be safe at Logan River?,” “How are the teens really treated?” and “Does Logan River Academy really help students form better relationships with their families?”

“There’s stigma around residential treatment and there’s guilt and judgment,” says Jackie Palmer, one of the parents featured in the video. “I started thinking of Logan River [Academy] as a sanctuary rather than a treatment facility because it’s a place where our son can be safe, protected, cared for and learn the skills he needs.” 

This video, the first of 10 similar videos in a series, was made to show the public what students have to say about their experiences at Logan River Academy. For many students, like the one featured at the end of the video, this experience includes a drastic change.

“I thought I was better than everybody else. I didn’t think that I needed this . . . [but] I needed this place. The fact that my parents didn’t give up on me—acknowledging that has been able to propel me to my next steps,” the student says.

The viewers are also presented with brief interviews from staff members who share their feelings on working with Logan River Academy students, particularly during the Adventure Learning Program—a program that presents life lessons while participating in activities such as skiing, whitewater rafting, and rock climbing.
