August 28, 2006 -- A six-part documentary miniseries studying the role of the model, the collaboration between artists and their models, and the resulting body of work will be unveiled this fall. Produced by Ciné Qua Non Films International, in association with Bravo!, The Art of Nude Modelling airs on Bravo! Mondays at 10:30pm ET / 7:30pm PT, starting September 11.

Explore the physical, emotional and mental requirements of nude modelling, while learning the hows and whys from current and former models, including Dina Vierny who posed for Matisse, in this aesthetic series that proves television, in itself, can be art. The first two episodes focus on the motivation behind nude modelling, along with the skills and concentration necessary for success, while highlighting historical trends for both male and female models. Episodes three and four delve into the complicated and intimate relationship between model and artist, examining the ties of complicity that bind renowned artists and their muses. The final two episodes study the gay model as a distinct tool of self-expression, freedom and discovery, with special attention paid to the differences between gay and lesbian art. Featuring the work of Ingres, Boucher, Baron Von Gloeden, Cézanne, Piene, Sleigh, Evergon and Picasso, The Art of Nude Modelling examines the inspiration and artists behind the nude portraiture that has fascinated mankind for centuries.
