East Central University in Oklahoma Implements EBSCO Discovery Service™

EBSCO Information Services (EBSCO) announces that East Central University (ECU) has chosen EBSCO Discovery Service™ (EDS) as its discovery service. With relevancy-ranked results, an abundant amount of customization options and a comprehensive one-stop discovery experience, EDS is a tool that allows ECU students to focus on the quality of the information found rather than spending time and energy on searching multiple resources.

In looking for a discovery service, East Central University wanted a better qualified search experience for its users that removed the need to search individual databases which often overwhelmed users. ECU has taken advantage of many customizable options in EDS to make the user experience unique. The library has modified the limiters and facets, created customized profiles based on majors and adjusted the colors and branding to reflect its own school webpage.

Looking forward, Chelsea Baker, Instructional Services Librarian, says that EDS will be instrumental to providing students with the resources they expect from a library. “EDS ties into our mission to “foster independent learning” because it allows students to find the information they need much more easily. It’s another way to present what the library has to offer, and the more ways there are to use the library, the more likely it is that students will be able to find a way that works for them.”
