Seattle – WEBWIRE

Socrata (www.socrata.com), a cloud software company focused on democratizing access to public sector data – both internally and externally by and for the most innovative organizations around the world – today announced two high-value programs for its customers. The announcement was made at Socrata’s first-ever Customer Summit in Washington DC, taking place today and tomorrow, which convenes over 200 open data innovators into a single community—Socrata’s Open Data Network™.Two High-Value Programs for Customers

  • The First Look – Socrata is offering Summit attendees an early preview of its new, industry-leading open data experience. With the First Look program, Socrata customers will interact with one or more of their own high-value datasets in the all-new user experience, powered by data science. The First Look will introduce the all-new Socrata data platform and the first wave of new features that are expressly designed to provide government employees with insights, maximize citizen engagement, accelerate developer adoption and simplify the data publishing process
  • Technology Preview – All Socrata customers will have the opportunity to register for this program, which is designed to give customers a hands-on opportunity to use the new open data products, provide feedback, suggest features and participate in shaping the evolution of the new open data experience. The Technology Preview program will begin in early December. For more information and sign-up details, please go to socrata.com/rethink.

These programs are a first in the industry in their scale and breadth. They reflect Socrata’s privileged position as the open data technology partner to hundreds of government innovators and thought leaders around the world. This community-oriented approach is inspired by the success of the design partnerships between Socrata and its customers, which have led to disruptive new products such as the Financial Transparency Suite of Apps.

“We’re thrilled to be hosting our first Customer Summit and are excited to have more than 200 open data innovators convening in one place to share best practices and build a community around open data,” says Kevin Merritt, CEO and Founder of Socrata.  “Socrata is a customer-focused technology company. The best software in the world, including Socrata’s, is built with customer input. We’re looking forward to having our customers, as members of the Open Data Network, participate in these programs and provide valuable feedback that will shape our solutions and the future of open data.”
