The Nature Conservancy in Colorado Welcomes Four New Trustees

The Nature Conservancy in Colorado is excited to announce the election of four new members to its Board of Trustees. Bruce Alexander, Kathleen Galvin, Annette Quintana and Suzanne White recently began their terms.

“We’re excited to welcome these community leaders to our team,” says Jim Smith, the Conservancy in Colorado’s board chair. “Their dedication to preserve our natural resources in Colorado and around the world, paired with their unique work experiences and enthusiasm, will bring many assets to The Nature Conservancy.”

Bruce Alexander—a fifth generation Coloradan—became the President and Chief Executive Officer of Vectra Bank of Colorado in March 2000. Prior to Vectra, Alexander was executive director of the Denver Urban Renewal Authority (DURA), which helps drive Denver’s economic growth and urban vitality. He spent the previous 20 years leading and managing other financial institutions across Colorado. He brings a distinguished track record of leadership and management experience honed in the private, public and non-profit sectors. The University of Virginia graduate has been engaged in his community with many board appointments including the Denver Downtown Partnership. 

Kathleen Galvin is a Professor in the Department of Anthropology and Senior Research Scientist at the Natural Resource Ecology Laboratory at Colorado State University. She currently leads a research program in the School of Global Environmental Sustainability. She is interested in issues of pastoral land use, conservation, climate variability, and resilience and adaptation strategies of people in the world’s grasslands. She’s completed extensive research in both Africa and Asia. In 2007, she received the Nobel Peace Prize, along with other scientists, by contributing to the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Galvin received her undergraduate at CSU and did her PhD training at SUNY-Binghamton.

Annette Quintana—a native Coloradan—is the Chief Executive Officer of Istonish Holding Company, a privately held information technology services company designed to help customers reduce expenses and improve operations through technology strategies. The family-owned business supports the public sector, healthcare, cable/telecom and energy industries. Quintana has been recognized as one of the Most Powerful Women in Colorado by the Women’s Chamber of Commerce,  as Entrepreneur of the Year by the Denver Hispanic Chamber of Commerce  and as one of the Outstanding Women in Businessaccording to The Denver Business Journal. She has a Chemical Engineering degree from Colorado State University. 

Suzanne White is a Senior Program Officer at the Colorado Health Foundation in Denver, Colorado. She works to identify opportunities for funding to support the mission and strategies of the Foundation. She is currently working to develop solutions to address critical health care issues in Colorado. White has 30 years of experience in health care management, policy, and philanthropy, and has worked in these capacities to improve health and health care in Colorado and nationally. She has a long-standing commitment to conservation and the environment. Suzanne has a Bachelor of Arts degree from Colorado College and a Master’s degree from Harvard University.
