Three Cubic Technologies Selected As Finalists in 27th Annual CONNECT Most Innovative New Product Awards

Three New Cubic Offerings Spanning the Defense and Transportation Industries Reach the Final Round of the CONNECT Awards

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – WEBWIRE

Cubic Corporation (NYSE: CUB) announced today that three of its solutions, Halo Array, NextBus Fleet Management Application and NeuroBridge 2.0,  have been selected as finalists in the Aerospace & Security Technologies, Communications & IT and Software categories for the 2014 Most Innovative New Product (MIP) Awards, sponsored by CONNECT. A regional program that catalyzes the creation of innovative technology and life sciences products in San Diego County, CONNECT continues its 27-year tradition of honoring San Diego’s leaders of innovation and groundbreaking new products with the annual award.

“The CONNECT MIP finalists represent some of the best new technologies our portfolio has to offer,” said Bradley H. Feldmann, president and chief executive officer of Cubic Corporation. “We are proud of all three teams that worked hard on developing these innovative technologies to help solve challenges facing our defense and transportation system customers.”

Halo Array

Halo Array is the first-of-its-kind in battlefield communications, improving the military readiness and effectiveness of U.S. and allied nations. Halo combines a multiple-link beam-forming antenna array and a set of built-in software radios.  It has the ability to continuously scan the horizon for radio transmitters and classify discovered transmitters to be tracked or ignored. It features fast parallel processing, reduced size, weight and power consumption and lower manufacturing costs than existing systems.

NextBus Fleet Management Application

Cubic’s new on-vehicle unit for bus fleet management is an easy-to-use platform that equips transit operations with the tools to deliver better service, support proactive maintenance diagnostics and reduced operational cost via improved information.  The NextBus Fleet Management Application integrates with the pre-existing NextBus real-time passenger information system that gives riders and mass transit operators highly accurate predictions of vehicle arrival information by integrating real-time information from vehicles with historical travel data and patented predictive algorithms. NextBus’s Fleet Management Application provides a modern touch-screen user interface to bus operators and reduces installation and maintenance complexity by combining location tracking, mobile communications and driver information into a single unit.

NeuroBridge 2.0

NeuroBridge 2.0 is a new software application that allows users to explore and research human cognition to produce repeatable and reliable results in training, testing and other scenarios. NeuroBridge 2.0 can record and sync data from multiple biosensors and stimulus events, permitting real-time logging of subjects’ physical and mental states, closed-loop neuro feedback and brain computer interface.

“For 27 years CONNECT has been hosting the MIP awards and each year the entrants just keep getting better – this is one of the most competitive fields we’ve seen for MIP yet,” said Greg McKee, chief executive officer of CONNECT. “Annually, through these awards, CONNECT proudly presents to the community the innovations and ground-breaking products being developed in San Diego.”

Winners will be selected on Dec. 4. For the complete list of finalists and other information please visit the Most Innovative New Product Awards website.
