New Jersey Alimony Attorney, MARINA GINZBURG, ESQ. Discusses the Breakthrough Reform To New Jersey Alimony Law
Marina Ginzburg, Esq. of the Ruiz Doolan Law Firm, LLC., is a divorce attorney in Bergen County, NJ, and is very excited about the long awaited alimony reform bill that Govern Christie has signed on September 10, 2014. “This bill is finally addressing New Jersey’s outdated alimony statute and will be of great help to our clients.” says Ms. Ginzburg. “We will now be able to offer our clients new alternatives in handling their alimony obligations.”
The new modernized alimony bill gives the New Jersey Court Judges stricter guidelines when ordering alimony. Additionally, the new law, which takes effect immediately, also allows puts an end to what has been known as “permanent alimony”. Marriages lasting less than twenty years cannot have alimony awards longer the duration of the marriage. Furthermore, the paying spouse will be allowed to end their obligations when they retire or if the receiving spouse begins to live with a paramour. These are huge changes from the old laws.
