Vungle Hires Inventor of Original Apple Macintosh and Ex-Adobe Scientist to Lead Engineering, and Ex-Amobee Innovation Director to Head Optimization Group
Today Vungle announced it has hired Marc LeBrun as Director of Engineering, and Si Crowhurst as Head of the company’s new Creative and Optimization Group (COG). LeBrun, who was one of the four original creators of the Apple Macintosh, will oversee Vungle’s rapidly growing engineering team, which has more than doubled in the past six months. LeBrun will be based at the company’s San Francisco headquarters. Crowhurst, the ex-Global Head of Innovation at Amobee, will lead Vungle’s creative team in London.
LeBrun has worked with small startups all the way up to Fortune 50 companies over the course of his 40 year career. He most recently served as the Engineering Manager for Search & Advanced Data Services at Tagged.com. Prior to that he ran Fixpoint Inc., a systems and software consultancy, and served as a Principal Scientist and Manager for Advanced Product Development at Adobe. He also led software and hardware engineering teams at Symbolics Inc., Autodesk Inc., Software Publishing Corp, Electrogig BV, McAfee Associates, and Sonic Solutions.
LeBrun also has published original research in signal processing and mathematics, and he served on the staff of several top research sites, including Stanford, MIT and Xerox PARC. He and his co-authors recently received the prestigious George Pólya Award from the Mathematical Association of America.
“I’m honored to join the Vungle team that has delivered significant customer value with the creation of industry-leading infrastructure and technology. They have redefined how in-app ads are bought and sold,” said Marc LeBrun. “The engineering team here has done some amazing work and I’m eager to join in building further on that, and thereby help lead the next wave of innovation.”
Si Crowhurst’s area of expertise is mobile marketing. He previously led Amobee’s global product innovation efforts. Before Amobee, he founded We Love Your Mobile, a mobile marketing agency that powered Bluetooth marketing campaigns. He also worked as the Head of Programmes for Orange, the world leaders in providing telecommunication services.
“I am incredibly excited to have Marc and Si join our team and look forward to working alongside them in this next phase of Vungle’s growth,” said Vungle CEO, Zain Jaffer. “Their tremendous expertise is an invaluable asset and will be instrumental in accelerating our technical and creative capabilities.”
These hires come just a few months after Vungle announced it had brought on former Senior Vice President of Marketing at Rovio, Ville Heijari, to lead the company’s European operations. The recent additions to an already impressive executive team underscores how many talented industry veterans believe in Vungle’s vision.
Vungle is actively hiring for its engineering, creative and sales teams in its San Francisco, London and Berlin offices in order to meet growing demand for its products.
