Home is Where the Heart is
Home is truly where the heart is. There is nothing quite as satisfying as cooking in your own kitchen, reclining in your favorite arm chair, or crawling into the well-worn crevice of your very own bed after a long day. As seniors age, so many things change. They may lose their memory, adult children may leave home, and close friends pass away. However, despite the chaos and sudden changes, one thing that many seniors find comforting is the security of living in their own home.
Sometimes it can be challenging for family members and friends to schedule their lives around the day-to-day needs of a senior. Whether itís a bath, a warm meal, or simply having someone around that is tall enough to put a blanket in the overhead storage, it can be a challenge to create a network of loved ones that can meet all the seniorís needs all the time.
There are many advantages to seniors staying in their own living environments. While home is a special place because of all the warm memories from the past, at InHome Care Solutions we desire our seniors to thrive in every season of their lives and never stop creating special memories. It is so important that seniors do not think that their lives are over just because they are older. Some tips we encourage for an enjoyable senior experience include:
- Never Stop Learning: Engage in lifelong learning opportunities with your senior. You can buy them a book or put on an audio book in their room in order to engage their mind and keep it sharp and active.
- Remind Yourself of the Things you Love: You may not be able to move around as quick as you could at one time, but that does not mean that you cannot watch tennis instead of playing it, or look at photos of when you went to that well-played baseball game with your children.
At In Home Care Solutions we have a committed staff of trained and experienced caregivers that are just as dedicated to your loved one as you are. Therefore we have a team of caregivers that target preventative and targeted care whether it is in the home, facility care, hospital bedside care, or care management for clients whose families are not close enough to take care of them.
