Indiana Businessman Shares Life Wisdom With Others
Mishawaka Businessman Roger Laidig recently retired from Laidig, Inc., has decided to share his life experiences, and wisdom gained from them, with people that are facing challenges with life.
“Just realize that you are on a journey. Today is not your destination. There is hope for the future.”
Mishawaka, Indiana – Author Roger Laidig’s book, Finding Purpose and Joy, It’s A Journey, is aimed at helping others that may be searching for more in life ranging from people who are filled with anxiety and caught up in the rat race of life, to people whose lives may be going fairly well but hope for more. It is applicable for those who find themselves wishing for something they don’t have. Maybe they feel they could be happier if some people in their lives would just change some. Or perhaps they just don’t feel quite content and don’t quite know what their real purpose in life is. Having experienced many of these feelings, Laidig shares several life lessons that lead to purpose and joy that he discovered along the way over the course of his life. He is soon to be an adjunct professor with emphasis on leadership at Purdue School of Technology in South Bend, Indiana. The author mentors half-a-dozen men on a biweekly basis and facilitates a couple of men’s groups. His main piece of advice is, “Just realize that you are on a journey. Today is not your destination. There is hope for the future.”
“Throughout life, like all of us do, I have faced different forms of adversity,” Roger says. “Some were a result of my choices and some were beyond my control. The ones that were a result of my choices adversely affected my dearest relationships. When I began realizing that blaming others never solved problems, my greatest lessons came from learning that my attitude and actions were the only things that were in my control. When I started taking responsibility for them, things began changing for the better. Most importantly, each adversity has and is helping me grow in my faith in God.”
Over the past few years, people started approaching the author for mentoring through their own hardships, and some suggested he write a book. Spurred on by his wife, Laidig realized that his wisdom gained through his own trials could help others. “That was like a sign from God,” he says of his wife’s encouragement, “as it signalled that we are both on the same page and in harmony.”
A small Canadian publishing company, Navarone Books, was also on the same page, and the book is now available on Amazon.com, as well as the Barnes and Noble website, and other outlets. Roger Laidig hopes that his book will become a tool for others that mentor as well as a study guide for small groups.
He hopes that his encouragement can help people see that the difficult places that people may find themselves in are just the current spot on their journey, and not their destination. Things will get better by taking responsibility and making daily choices that produce a better future.
