Bandwidth, one of the nation’s leading communications technology companies, today announced that TDS Telecom, one of the country’s largest phone and Internet service providers is using Bandwidth to expand its VoIP products nationally.

TDS has announced it will utilize Bandwidth to easily extend its new Remote Teleworker product and leading array of VoIP and Unified Communications services beyond its existing competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) footprint. As a result, TDS can now connect corporate headquarters, branch offices, or a work-at-home employee in single or multiple state locations.

“We have a tremendous amount of customers who want to extend our services to other locations beyond our existing CLEC footprint,” said Jim Butman, group president of Marketing, Sales and Customer Operations at TDS Telecom. “By working with Bandwidth, we have an opportunity to deliver a nationwide virtual office solution that our users can depend on for voice and 911. We appreciate the scalability and flexibility of Bandwidth’s automation tools which allows our team to spend more time with our customers.”

TDS Telecom is the seventh largest local exchange telephone company in the United States. The company connects more than a million business and residential lines with high-speed Internet, phone, IP-based business solutions and TV entertainment services and is quickly expanding its reach.

For TDS administrators, Bandwidth automates the entire number selection, provisioning and management process. Bandwidth’s flexible APIs also allow the TDS team to integrate the number management process into existing service infrastructure.

“We take great pride in helping innovative companies like TDS Telecom expand their CLEC service offerings and effectively compete on a nationwide scale,” said Steve Leonard, executive vice president for Bandwidth’s Business Solutions Division. “TDS is a great example of a CLEC that recognized the need to fully embrace IP-communications early on. They are now effectively executing a plan to monetize the opportunities that nationwide IP-based coverage provides.”
