Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Ford Mustang during Motor Muster in Greenfield Village, June 14-15

Mustang I Concept, Mustang II Concept and Mustang Serial Number One to be reunited during Father’s Day Weekend

Dearborn, Mich. – WEBWIRE

Continue the celebration of the Ford Mustang’s 50th anniversary during Motor Muster inside Greenfield Village, June 14-15 with special hours until 9 pm on Saturday, June 14. Throughout the weekend Greenfield Village will be filled with more than 850 classic cars, vintage trucks, motorcycles, military vehicles, and bicycles from one of the grandest and most innovative era of American automotive history – 1933-1977.

In honor of the iconic pony car’s 50th birthday, the Mustang Serial Number One and Ford Mustang I Concept from the Collections of The Henry Ford, will reunite with the 1963 Mustang II Concept from the Detroit Historical Society. All three historic Mustangs will be on display across from Town Hall on Saturday, June 14. As part of the celebration, Mustang Serial Number One will be driving through a special portion of the pass-and-review parade each day at 2 pm, presented by Matt Anderson, curator of transportation at The Henry Ford and Andrew Beckman, archivist and automobile historian at the Studebaker Museum in South Bend, Ind.

New this year, guests can dance to the sounds of the late 1950s and early 1960s during Record Hop USA!, The Henry Ford’s re-creation of the traveling teen dance shows featuring live performances of the songs from that era. Guests are invited to brush off their dance moves and do the Mashed Potato, Watusi, Mambo and the Twist on Saturday, June 14 at 7pm near the Showmobile Main Stage on Main Street and Washington Boulevard.

Throughout the weekend, the younger car enthusiasts can build, decorate and race their own pine cars at Greenfield Village’s Guild Beer Hall or get behind the wheel of a vintage pedal car near the Roundhouse. Guests can see many of the vehicles take to the streets during the pass-in-review parades and vote who should take home the Popular Choice Award.

Motor Muster is free with membership or $24 for adults, $22 for seniors 62 and up and $17.50 for youth 5-12. Children four and under are free. For more information, call (313) 982-6001 or visit http://www.thehenryford.org/events/motorMuster.aspx
