Child Abuse is increasing dramatically.

Each day, thousands of children suffer and endure various forms of abuse. These abuses impede these children from achieving the freedom and development that they are entitled to and often, their cries for support fall on deaf ears. Sofía Carmona, aware of the physical and mental harm of child abuse and the dangers of doing nothing to curb it, perhaps inspired by her own story and with the support of her friends and family, wrote a song that has garnered worldwide attention, serving as the chief inspiration behind the Arcadia Foundation’s latest project, Voice of the Children.

Economic circumstances once prevented Sofía from creating a video to accompany her song to bring awareness to the public. Yet she never stopped trying. Years later, Liam Watkins and Danny Gallardo, two teenagers with similar backgrounds joined her and managed to make it happen.

Robert Carmona-Borjas, founder of Arcadia Foundation, has brought together María Conchita Alonso to join these three talented young minds on a campaign they all hope results in not only significantly reducing the numbers of victims of child abuse, but also giving these victims hope and above all, the freedom they deserve. María Conchita Alonso has long been known for her work against human rights violations.

Today, through Arcadia Foundation’s YouTube Channel, the video Voice of the Children will be released. This video will be the center peace of their latest campaign as it will seek to directly help children who are being bullied and abused today.

While extremely explicit, the video is based on real life events and is not only intended to alert, perhaps alarm and create awareness but also to send a clear message to abused children that their destiny is in their hands, no matter how hard their past might have been. The goal of the overall campaign and collaboration is to seek funding from the private sector to create two essential tools to fight Child Abuse:

  1. Create a mobile application for smart phones that will help these victims or witnesses automatically record images and/or videos of the attackers and automatically send these to an Emergency Call Center to channel this evidence to the proper authorities;
  2. Build a Call Center and Emergency Hotline that will serve to help these children in alerting the relevant authorities about the abuses, indeed recorded or reported through the application to the Emergency Call Center.

What will begin in Los Angeles is expected to serve as an example that can hopefully be repeated in each country of the international community. Join them and share this video, as its widespread dissemination hopes to create awareness through social networks, and with it, help the Foundation achieve their goal of creating tools that children can use to receive the support and protection they desperately need.
