Sidra sets a new global benchmark for healing environments.

MONTREAL, Canada – May 14, 2014 – Unicel Architectural, manufacturer of vision and daylight control solutions, today announced its healthcare project with the Sidra Medical and Research Center - an ultra-modern medical, research and education institution that focuses on the health and wellbeing of women and children in Doha, Qatar. The nearly 400-bed hospital is divided into three “hospitals within a hospital” that focus on children’s health, women’s health and adult acute care.

“Sidra sets a new global benchmark for healing environments,” said Jean-François Couturier, CEO of Unicel Architectural. “Our award-winning Vision Control® integrated louvers will provide optimal privacy and lighting control for patients and medical staff. We are exceedingly proud to be a part of this world-class healthcare and research facility project.”

Sidra has employed over 200 Vision Control® hermetically sealed glass units with integrated cord-free louvers in patient areas. The inpatient rooms are organized around three healing garden atria. The atria include the Vision Control® units to ensure privacy and filter and soften the strong sunlight.

As the subcontractor for the complete architectural doors and hardware package for the Sidra project, Framaco International selected Unicel for its Vision Control® solution after a careful consideration process. Framaco International is a leading U.S.-based construction management and procurement services firm. “For us, it was critical to work with a manufacturer who had many years of experience and the technical understanding of the complexity of this challenging architectural initiative,” said Gilles Kacha, CEO, Framaco International. “Together with Unicel, we ensured delivery of the best privacy and shading products for this high profile project. We look forward to collaborating on future projects with the Unicel team.”

Vision Control® is a patented, hermetically sealed glass unit combining louvers within glass that can be customized to virtually any shape for interior or exterior healthcare glazing applications. Its advanced louvered glazing technology eliminates strings, ensures alignment, requires no maintenance and provides the ideal privacy solution for ICUs, operating rooms, nurseries and more.
