United Kingdom – WEBWIRE

We’re really excited to be part of one of the coalition’s flagship initiatives to support Britain’s small businesses.

ClearSky Accounting, a leading provider of accountancy services to start-ups and SMEs, will take part in a £30m growth scheme, launched by the UK government.

The accountancy firm, which forms part of SME advice specialists ClearSky Business, has confirmed that it’s received ‘accredited advisor’ status from the Growth Voucher Scheme.

Announced during Chancellor George Osborne’s Budget 2013, the program was officially launched this year. Through the scheme, 20,000 small businesses in the UK will be matched with established mentors via a marketplace style website.

Start-ups and SMEs will be able to come to ClearSky Accounting for subsidised financial and cash flow advice.
In order to become an accredited advisor, ClearSky Accounting had to meet certain qualifying criteria and demonstrate the highest standards of accounting services.

Daniel Mepham, accounting director at ClearSky Business said: “We’re really excited to be part of one of the coalition’s flagship initiatives to support Britain’s small businesses.

“For us, the Growth Voucher scheme is an ideal project to be involved in. Small businesses are the engine room of the economy, and our philosophy is to help them get on and grow, so it’s a perfect fit.

“Prohibitive costs and long-term, iron-clad contracts are just two factors that can stop a growing business seeking the professional, specialist advice it needs to fulfil its potential, which is why we are committed to offering flexibility and fixed fees.

“We can’t wait to find out which businesses we’ll be supporting as part of the scheme.”

Growth vouchers are available for up to £2,000 but the small business looking for support must match the value of the voucher. They are only available to businesses that have been running for a year or more, have fewer than 50 employees and have not paid for strategic external advice during the past three years.

Small businesses can apply for growth vouchers but not all will receive them. Successful applicants will be chosen at random by government officials. So far, more than 700 small businesses have shared over £400,000 of advice and support.
