Pastor Ed Young’s Fellowship Church is On the Move
Pastor Ed Young and his Dallas-based Fellowship Church are Thriving around the World
Everything is bigger in Texas. From the skyscrapers to the sports to even the size of the state itself, Texans can go big while staying home. But one local pastor’s message is proving to be so big it found its way to London, England.
Pastor Ed Young is the founder of Fellowship Church, a church based in Grapevine, Texas.
The Grapevine campus isn’t the only Fellowship location -- they also have five additional satellite campuses throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth area. That’s not all, however. Fellowship Church has two satellite campuses in Miami, Florida. Plus, they’ve even reached “across the pond” to found a location in London, England.
Ed Young is the son of Homer Edwin Young, the senior preacher of the Second Baptist Church in Houston. Ed attended college at Florida State University, where he’d earned a basketball scholarship. But a life of hoops wasn’t his ultimate goal, and he eventually found himself back in Texas at the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he earned a Master’s of Divinity.
At first, the church met in high school gymnasiums and, basically, wherever else they could. It was a small church, but Ed’s passion and creative communication style were quickly winning over the community of Grapevine.Today, Fellowship Church is one of the most attended churches in the world. But it’s more than just the size that’s making people take notice, it’s the message.
Young has written 14 books, including his most recent, “Sexperiment,” a New York Times bestseller.Other books by Young include “Outrageous, Contagious Joy,” “Beauty Full,” and “Kid CEO.” While they might not sound like traditional Christian titles, people are really responding in a positive way.
About Pastor Ed Young
Pastor Ed Young of Dallas, Texas has been married to his wife, Lisa, for over 30 years. Together, they’re raising four children in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. While their family life is fulfilling, it’s also a challenge -- just like it is for all families everywhere. Young turns these challenges into lessons, in order to help others overcome them as well. By filtering his Christian message through universal concepts, such as raising children and being a good spouse, the Fellowship church is striking a cord with people all across Texas, and all across the world.
