It’s Spring Exam Time for Industrial Hygienists Working Towards CIH Certification

April 1st though May 31st is the Spring Exam window for the ABIH’s Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH) program.

Lansing, MI – WEBWIRE

CIH certification has brought value and countless benefits to those who have been certified over the past 50 years.

The Spring Exam window for successful applicants looking to take their industrial hygiene careers to the next level begins on April 1st.   Approved candidates have until May 31st to take the CIH exam administered by the American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH).

Each year, ABIH offers two exam windows: April-May and October-November.  Successful applicants who have been approved to take the exam and have paid their exam fee can schedule to take the CIH exam anytime within those timeframes.

The CIH exam consists of 200 items that cover an individual’s knowledge and skills across the broad general practice of industrial hygiene. The allotted time for the exam is 5.5 hours, with an optional break between the two sections of the exam.  ABIH has contracted with Prometric Testing to provide exam locations throughout the United States, Canada and in many countries across the globe.

For those interested in pursuing CIH certification, all of the requirements and the process have been clearly defined in a downloadable document on the ABIH website.  The Candidate Handbook discusses everything from academic and experience requirements to the application process, fees and examination information. “We wish everyone taking the Spring Exam success in their efforts to achieve CIH certification,” said Lynn O’Donnell, CIH, Executive Director for the American Board of Industrial Hygiene.  “CIH certification has brought value and countless benefits to those who have been certified over the past 50 years.  For those who missed the February 1st deadline to become eligible for the Spring Exam window, we encourage them to submit their completed application for the Fall Exam by the August 1st deadline.”
