Capital Food Coaching to offer body image seminars to Northern Virginia parents

“The Good Eater” aims to give parents effective tools to combat body image and disordered eating patterns; food coaching company provides a buffet of resources for parents of teens.

Alexandria, VA – WEBWIRE

Over half of 13-year-old girls are unhappy with their bodies, and the number increases to 80% by age 17.  These statistics often prompts teenagers to begin dieting or experiment with dangerous methods of staying thin.  Capital Food Coaching, LLC has constructed a resource for parents titled, “The Good Eater” that is designed to help the 65% of women and girls who develop an eating disorder at some point in their lives.

The Good Eater offers actionable tips and strategies to help parents cope with disordered eating patterns in their children.  “I share current research on the issues of food and body image, and provide strategies, which help busy parents make better food choices for life,” said Vianesa Vargas, owner of Capital Food Coaching, LLC.  “Many parents don’t realize their destructive self-care habits have an immediate and lasting effect on their children—I want to turn it around so that parents make a strong investment in their child’s health” Vargas said.

Vargas will offer free seminars to junior high schools in the Northern Virginia area throughout the spring months, and will offer a free webinar for parents on April 1st 2014.  Parents who participate in the webinar will have the opportunity to ask questions directly to Vargas, a certified nutritionist, and life skills expert.
