Siri for Sweat: Ex-Apple Engineer Launches Moov, The First Fitness Wearable That Combines Artificial Intelligence with Game-Like Features To Guide You Through the Perfect Workout

Moov marks the end of the bullsh*t workout

Mountain View, CA – WEBWIRE

Ever wished you could afford the luxury of a personal coach who could train you to run longer, faster and with better form? And what if that same coach could also improve your boxing, swimming or yoga form? It’s all possible for $59 thanks to a new fitness wearable device called Moov.

Moov makes the perfect workout a reality for anyone. Based on biomechanics and sport science research from Harvard and Stanford, it’s the first device that not only tracks your activity and form while you’re exercising, but also gives you real-time audio and visual instruction on how to improve. The device, which is smaller than an Oreo, uses artificial intelligence to analyze the way you run, swim, lift weights or cardio box. This is critical to helping you get more from each workout, while also helping to reduce common injuries.

How will Moov change the way you work out?

Running: Moov senses different aspects of your form while you’re running, such as your stride rate and landing impact. You’ll be guided to land more towards the ball of your foot or to shorten your stride in order to run longer distances with more efficiency.

Weight Training: Moov challenges you by telling you when your hips are too high during your plank (leaving your ab muscles unengaged), or when your shoulders aren’t directly over your hands during pushups. It can even show you how to use your own body weight to maximize your exercise.

Cardio boxing: If you’re looking for a fun way to get your heart pumping, Moov shows you how to throw the perfect jab or uppercut during a cardio boxing session.

Swimming: After you finish swimming, you can check your phone and the Moov app will instruct you to lengthen your freestyle stroke, or to kick faster.

Comparing, sharing and challenging: You can compare your workouts with pros or friends, spark up some friendly competition, or share your workouts with others.

Moov founders Nikola Hu - a former Apple and HALO game engineer, Meng Li and Tony Yuan created Moov based on their personal experience that many people have the potential to work out better and more efficiently, or are training with improper form leading to long-term damage.

“We designed Moov to end the era of the bullsh*t workout, which is what millions of Americans engage in every day, good intentions but inaccurate and injury-inducing actions and poor form. Moov aims to end those experiences and make exercise worth your time and effort,” states co-founder Meng Li.

Moov is waterproof and attaches to a band that can be strapped on your wrist, ankle or arm. The sensors capture your body’s exact form and sync with the app to give you feedback while you’re working out. The app can run in the background, allowing you to listen to music while you work out. At launch, Moov will support running, swimming, cycling, strength training and cardio boxing with plans to roll out many other sports post-launch including yoga and martial arts.

Moov’s crowdfunding campaign officially launches today, and the company is hoping to raise $40,000 in order to start production and ship the first batch by summer 2014. The device will retail for $120, but during the campaign’s first 30 days, the device will sell for $59 for one device and $99 for two. Purchasers who refer friends that also purchase a Moov will receive $5 off their order for each referral.
