Our new program helps them get settled safely and ensures that they don’t return to the hospital.

Family First Home Companions home care agency is expanding their services with a new home rehabilitation program called, “Home In A Hurry,” which is designed to assist patients who are being discharged from a hospital or nursing facility. The company was also in the news recently when they announced the opening of a new satellite location at 445 Broadhollow Road in Melville, N.Y.

The Home In A Hurry program consists of two days of care by a professional caregiver for five hours per day, during which time the caregiver will ready the home by tending to household chores, doing the laundry, changing bed linens, doing the grocery shopping and other necessary duties. The program also includes a free home safety evaluation by a trained caregiver who will evaluate the home for potential safety hazards and offer recommendations to make the home more adaptable for the well-being of the returning patient.

Owner and vice president of Family First Home Companions,  Jennifer Benjamin, believes that the new level of assistance that Home In A Hurry provides can be an essential element in transitioning senior citizens back into their home safely and effectively. “The first few days can be the hardest for senior citizens and their families when they are released from the hospital or nursing facility,” said Ms. Benjamin. “Our new program helps them get settled safely and ensures that they don’t return to the hospital.”

While the company has been busy in launching their new program they have also expanded their reach in opening a new satellite office in Melville, N.Y. “In order to provide the best possible service to all of our clients, and to meet the increased demand for home companion services, we decided to open the Melville office,” said Benjamin. “We believe that this office will provide faster service and easier access for home care services for seniors located in the Huntington NORC (naturally occurring retirement community), Plainview NORC, and the Town of Hempstead NORC.”

Family First Home Companions provides companions, non-medical caregivers, for hourly weekday and weekend care, overnight care and live-in weekday and weekend care. They are qualified, compassionate caregivers who can help senior citizens maintain their independence, quality of life and peace of mind while still living in their own home. Now, with their new Home In A Hurry program, this same level of care and assistance is available to seniors who are transitioning back home from a hospital stay or time spent in a nursing facility.
