The Charmin Relief Project Helps Firehouses that Need Some TLC
CINCINNATI -- As the next phase of The Charmin Relief Project, a program designed to bring consumers a better bathroom experience, no matter where they are, Charmin is bringing relief to America’s firefighters, brave women and men who put their behinds on the line, day in and day out, to keep their communities safe. Charmin wants to help this much loved, but often underfunded, group of public servants.
“Charmin’s mission is to surprise and delight people with a more enjoyable go,” said Scott Mautz, Regional Brand Director. “We recognize that for firefighters, the fire house is often their home away from home. We want to show our thanks to these brave men and women by providing them relief where we can. We’ve done this before and want to do it again.”
Charmin donated 70,752 rolls of toilet paper to the Detroit Fire Department in 2012 after learning that firefighters were buying toilet paper with their own money. Late last year, Charmin donated 10,000 rolls of toilet paper to the Moonachie Fire Department in New Jersey, which was still being rebuilt after Hurricane Sandy.
“Firefighters are always willing to jump up and help anyone without expecting anything in return. It really was humbling to have Charmin do something so generous for us,” said Chris Halloran, Moonachie volunteer firefighter. “When people dial 9-1-1, they are generally not having a very good day. As firefighters, we go out at a moment’s notice and do whatever it takes to help those people. It feels great to know that Charmin is here helping us.”
Charmin launched CharminRelief.com for consumers to “enjoy the go” by entering a sweepstakes to win weekly and monthly prizes and a grand prize bathroom makeover. On the site, people can see a rolling count of how many people the Charmin Relief Project has helped, which is over 465,000 people and counting.
