Acorn DVD Slashes Prices of Midsomer Murders DVDs

Two brand new Midsomer Murders DVDs are now available to pre-order from the Acorn DVD online store. To celebrate, the retailer has slashed the prices of every DVD in the Midsomer Murders series; including the brand new pair.

There’s a new detective on the case in Midsomer and his name is DS Charlie Nelson. Welsh actor Gwilym Lee will inject some fresh energy into the Midsomer police force, after first appearing in 2013’s Midsomer Murders Christmas, the Christmas Haunting; which is available from Acorn DVD now.

Lee told ITV that his role would be an action-packed one, as he prepared to play the young protégé to Neil Dudgeon’s veteran DCI Barnaby.

He said: “I am delighted to be joining such a popular and long running series as Midsomer Murders.  I have always watched it and can’t wait to start work on it now, as a regular character.  It’s a bit of a dream come true and I am even looking forward to the various stunts that lie ahead of me - I know Barnaby doesn’t like jumping into freezing lakes”.

In Midsomer Murders Let Us Prey and Wild Harvest, Nelson joins Barnaby in two brand new thrilling, and eccentric, mysteries. Let Us Prey takes the pair to St Clare’s Parish Church, where several murders could be linked to the discovery of a medieval festival fresco, in the church’s crypt. Wild Harvest follows the investigation of a violent murder at Wyvern House. When the owner of the property meets an untimely end, Barnaby and Nelson must find the culprit before he strikes again.

The long running and immensely popular Midsomer Murders is a British TV institution, and one of the bestselling series at Acorn DVD. Last year, the show filmed its 100th episode, in which the cast travelled to Copenhagen to join forces with familiar faces from The Killing and Borgen. The show will soon reach another milestone when it claims its 300th murder victim.

Since The Killings at Badger’s Drift, the show has seen a number of detectives come and go; and even more residents shuffle off this mortal coil.
