London Drugs Becomes First Canadian Retailer to Help Customers Make Old Home Videos New Again Online

Thanks to partnership with YesVideo and Fujifilm, London Drugs now offers their customers the ability to preserve, re-live and share memories stuck on vintage tapes, film reels, slides and photos

RICHMOND, BRITISH COLUMBIA and SANTA CLARA, CA – WEBWIRE

Protecting and sharing generations of family memories is extremely important.

London Drugs is now the first Canadian retailer to offer customers the ability to transfer vintage home movies for archival on DVD and online viewing. Through a state of the art transfer process that keeps files safe, while creating high-quality professional digital memories, customers will be able to access cherished family moments anytime, anywhere, on any connected device – computers, smartphones, tablets, and connected televisions. They will also be able to capture still photos from their video – literally creating a photo from their past that never existed before – and share them via Facebook and Instagram with one click of the mouse or tap on the screen.

Well-known as a pioneer in photo-finishing, London Drugs is the first Canadian retailer to partner with YesVideo to offer this service.

“Protecting and sharing generations of family memories is extremely important. That’s why we have partnered with the largest and most trusted home movie transfer company to give our customers the ability to bring back their deeply cherished memories in an easily accessible and shareable format,” said London Drugs Merchandise Manager, Frank Tent.

How it works:

  1. Customers simply drop off their vintage media – tapes, film reels, slides, and photos – at their local London Drugs photo counter. London Drugs will accept the following types of media: 8mm, 16mm, Super 8, VHS, VHS-C, SVHS, 8mm, Hi-8, Digital 8, Betamax, MiniDV, Slides (35MM cardboard and plastic slides), and photos.
  2. Within four weeks, the customer will receive their home movies on DVD, the original media, and access to a free, private online account. Once uploaded online, their videos will be stored online at no cost to the consumer.
  3. Customers can easily view their movies online, share them with friends and family via email or Facebook, and access them from the free iPhone and iPad app as well.
  4. Customers can edit their video into shorter clips and send those clips or entire videos to family and friends via email, or share via Facebook and Instagram. They will even be able to capture still photos from their video – literally creating a photo from their past that never existed before. They can then share these photos with others with one click of the mouse or tap on the screen.

On average, one in three YesVideo customers share their home movies with loved ones via email, Facebook, or Instagram. Increased video sharing online has led to rapid demand for the YesVideo service.

“As we add more sharing options, more customers take advantage of them – which in turn brings in new customers. We’ve seen incredible growth and success in the US over the past twelve months, and we are extremely excited to expand to Canada and serve families there,” said Michael Chang, CEO of YesVideo. “We are happy to provide online access to our customers, who often tell us that they truly value being able to watch their videos on-the-go, on any device.”

Pricing for the transfer service at London Drugs:
