That is the verdict from UK label specialists, LabelsPlus, after a study is published which proves that even small children who arenít old enough to read still recognise a wide variety of companies by their logo.
The study, which was carried out in Australia, surveyed 38 children aged 3 to 5 years old and found that on the majority of occasions they knew exactly which corresponded to each brand. This included child friendly brands like Disney and McDonalds, but also a large number of brands with a large adult demographic including Toyota and Shell.
The logo for Japanese car company, Toyota, was recognised by 80% of youngsters surveyed. Perhaps even more surprisingly, the Shell energy and petrochemical company was recognised by more than half. While researchers attributed these facts to the ways children associate these symbols to their parentís cars or their family days out via a petrol station, the bottom line is the importance of a logo to brand recognition.
