TEO, the World’s First Keyless Padlock Launches on Kickstarter
TEO: The future of the padlock is here.
“Anywhere you have a padlock, you can now have a TEO,” said inventor Gord Duncan. “It’s been exciting, because when I talk to folks about TEO, they immediately come up with their own uses.”
Whitehorse, Yukon - Yukon entrepreneur and innovator Gord Duncan has re-invented the padlock with TEO, the world’s first key-less padlock that is accessed with a smartphone or other Bluetooth enable device, removing the need for physical keys.
TEO has been launched worldwide on the crowd-funding website Kickstarter.com. Duncan and his team, who have been working on TEO for the past two years, now seek investment to take their padlock from prototype to the design to manufacture phase over the next 11 months.
“While on holidays three years ago, I was afraid I’d lose my keys and my family and I would be stranded. I figured there must be a better way to deal with my physical keys and the idea for TEO was born,” said Duncan, President of OckCorp.
TEO is a ground up patent pending design for a key-less padlock that incorporates Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) technology. TEO is operated by any smartphone or device with BTLE capability. It allows the user to access, or share access, to a TEO padlock by time and date, by user and by location. It also includes an enterprise space, which offers a host of possibilities for unique commercial and industrial scenarios.
“Anywhere you have a padlock, you can now have a TEO,” continued Duncan. “It’s been really exciting, because anytime I’ve talked to folks about this system, they immediately come up with their own usage scenarios from sheds, bikes and school lockers to commercial gates and remote industrial sites.”
The opportunity to invest in TEO on Kickstarter.com will be available until March 7 and the product is scheduled to be available for distribution next December.
“We have a great industrial design and manufacturing team in place, which operate at the very highest level, so we can bring TEO to the consumer by the end of the year,” said Duncan. “The idea has come such a long way and we encourage everyone to visit Kickstarter and join us on this incredible ride.”
