DHL Launches New Signature Delivery Option Services

WEBWIRE

PLANTATION, Fla. -- August 14, 2006 - DHL, the world’s leading express delivery and logistics company, announced it will offer three new signature delivery service options to provide customers with more direct control over their delivery needs. The new options, including delivering packages without a required in-person signature, will make deliveries more convenient for DHL customers.

Shipments requiring signatures and destined for residential as well as commercial locations with limited hours of operation often result in multiple delivery attempts. In order to better accommodate the specific delivery needs of customers, DHL has expanded its service offerings from a single in-person signature option to three, allowing customers the flexibility to determine precisely how they want deliveries verified: signed by an adult with valid identification, by a signature of someone at the address, or left at the door or place of business per written instruction. These new options will provide more delivery flexibility and consistency for customers, especially those regularly receiving residential deliveries.

The following fee-based options are now available upon request through DHL’s automated shipping systems or with specially-designed DHL shipping labels:

- Adult Signature Required: This service requires that a person of at least 21 years of age with a valid government-issued photo identification sign for the shipment at the delivery address.

- Signature Required: This service requires a person at the intended destination to sign for the package upon delivery. A DHL courier will not leave a shipment at the door without the in-person signature.

- Signature Preferred: This service gives a consignee the option of receiving a package at their location without being present, either by signing an ?Attempted Delivery Notice’ left at the location or through a third-party signature on the first attempt. Customers who are not normally home to accept residential deliveries will find this option most convenient.

As with all DHL deliveries, signatures will be captured electronically and available for customer viewing at www.dhl-usa.com.

DHL has also introduced a discount for customers who schedule a pickup via DHL’s automated systems. Customers who use DHL’s Interactive Voice Response (IVR) feature by calling 1-800-CALL DHL, or who schedule their pickups via the web at www.dhl-usa.com will receive a discount on the On Demand Pick Up fee (ODPU).

DHL continues to regularly upgrade its web site for customers to make it quicker and easier to establish accounts, arrange pickups, prepare and track shipments, order supplies, and view rates and transit times. DHL also offers web-based tools and other resources for shippers from www.dhl-usa.com, such as news and tips for small businesses at the DHL Small Business Resource Center, and information and tools to simplify international trade and import/export regulations at the DHL International Trade Center.
