R-M organizes 5th European young painters’ championship

Ten countries to participate in Best Painter Contest in Italy

It couldn’t be more tempting. The winner of the Best Painter Contest, organized by R-M, a BASF Coatings’ automotive refinish paint brand, is practically the European champion among painters, making him one of the best of his guild. On September 27 and 28, the Refinish Competence Centre in Caronno Pertusella near Milan will be the arena for this spectacular competition, which is taking place for the fifth time. Young painters from a total of ten countries will be stepping up to the challenge. The participants come from Germany, Belgium, Spain, France, the UK, the Netherlands, Italy, Poland, Slovenia, and Belarus. This means that the number of countries participating in this year’s Grand Final has increased to ten from the eight nations competing in last year’s competition in Guadalajara, Spain. And the number of sponsors has doubled, from eight to sixteen.
Participants who qualified for the European Grand Final first had to edge out their opponents in preliminary rounds that took place between April and May, and then win their respective national final in May. In the preliminary rounds, the competitors were faced with challenges similar to those of the Grand Final: Using R-M’s Colormaster 2 to pass a color identification test and then painting a car part using R-M paints, while strictly adhering to the norms of the car manufacturers. The jury will judge the competitors according to quality of the final product, time spent, amount of product used, overall process (method, steps, products used), material consumption and exact compliance with all the rules. By mastering additional tasks during the competition and error identification during the workflow, the participants can earn bonus points.
