NativeX Hires Founding Turn Scientist Dr. James Shanahan as Chief Scientist and VP of Data Science
Company strengthens predictive analytics team in order to increase ad relevancy and profitability for game developers
SAN FRANCISCO– NativeX, the leading advertising technology provider for games, is today announcing the hiring of James Shanahan, a data and machine-learning expert as their Chief Scientist and VP of Data Science. Shanahan, a former executive director at AT&T, Xerox and founding chief scientist of Turn, will help with the company’s ongoing innovation in predictive analytics and native ad targeting.
Big data is driving transformative changes across the advertising industry. At NativeX, Shanahan will lead a team of Data Scientists to develop predictive algorithms to optimize advertising revenue for the company’s game developer partners.

Shanahan has nearly 25 years of experience leading innovation in data mining, machine learning and predictive analytics. Before joining NativeX, he consulted and lead teams on organic search engine ranking algorithms at companies such as SearchMe, advertising and machine learning for clients like AT&T, Adobe, Digg and Ancestry.com. He also served as Chief Scientist for Turn Inc., a leading advertising analytics firm, and has held research and engineering positions at Xerox and Mitsubishi. Shanahan also teaches a sequence of graduate-level classes on machine learning, data mining, operations research, and distributed systems at University of California at Santa Cruz.
