Sygic Takes its Navigation App to the Next Level with Parking, Local Deals and Recommendations Powered by ParkMe, Groupon and Foursquare
World’s most trusted offline GPS navigation app for iOS and Android brings popular features to help drivers travel smarter and make road trips even easier than before
For drivers who want a more complete navigation experience that lets them discover new places and restaurants and gives access to the tools to help them get there safely and easily, Sygic today announced a host of new features in its Sygic: GPS Navigation app, which provides a one stop destination for all your travel-related needs. By integrating helpful services from Groupon, Foursquare and ParkMe into its iOS and Android apps, Sygic users in the U.S. and Canada will now be able to customize and personalize their trips like never before.
With 33 million users in 115 countries, Sygic has long been the leader in offline navigation, and its latest set of new features means that you will be able to access all the travel information you’ll ever need from one convenient location. Now you can find great deals from Groupon and discover fantastic restaurants and event recommendations from Foursquare right from within the Sygic app, while ParkMe will help you choose from the closest or most affordable spots to leave your vehicle.
Sygic: GPS Navigation is the first iOS and Android navigation app to feature Groupon integration, and ParkMe delivers the world’s most comprehensive parking database in the world, including more than 28,000 parking locations in 1,823 cities. With the ParkMe feature, you’ll find easy to read displays on parking data like rates, hours of operations and real-time space availability, making it even easier and faster to find a spot in notoriously busy cities like New York, San Francisco, Chicago and Los Angeles.
“Sygic is committed to providing the best offline navigation experience as possible, and these new services will ensure that you have everything you need right at your fingertips without having to search through several apps at once,” Sygic CEO Michal Štencl said. “Drivers won’t find a better, mapping, navigation and recommendation service anywhere else in the world.”
Sygic’s new features include:
- Discover and purchase Groupon deals from within the Sygic app and immediately navigate to the store or save the location for later
- Find new restaurants or venue information from Foursquare, as well as where friends have checked-in before, while easily navigating to their location
- Search for both on-street and off-street parking through ParkMe based on criteria like proximity to your final destination and hourly rates
- Any user can now set a countdown timer to let you know when you need to get back to your vehicle so you don’t end up paying for an extra hour at a parking facility
Other Features of Sygic: GPS Navigation include:
- Turn-by-turn voice-guided GPS navigation
- 3D cities and landscapes
- Voice guidance in more than 40 languages
- Multi-stop routes and Drag & Drop route editing
- Speed limit display and audio warning
- SOS/Help to find assistance nearby
- Interactive map - tap on any street, POI, or photo to choose action
Unlike other map services, data in Sygic: GPS Navigation is stored on the user’s phone instead of streamed from the Internet, which means that Sygic users don’t have to worry about running up against their cellular data caps by using GPS navigation or getting lost in an area with poor cell reception. When Sygic’s users are online, they now have access to other helpful features like real-time traffic and road incident sharing with other drivers.
Today’s online features arrive on top of Sygic’s existing ones, which include leading travel companies TripAdvisor and Booking.com. Travelers can book a hotel and navigate to it with the Booking.com extension, and in-app TripAdvisor city guides are available on Sygic for a number of popular destinations. Sygic users can find top sites and more from within the app and do most of it offline.
Sygic users can install Groupon and ParkMe features for free from within Sygic: GPS Navigation (on the iOS App Store and Google Play), and Foursquare integration has been added for all Sygic users in the latest app update.
