ABIH Wishes the Industrial Hygiene Community a Happy Thanksgiving

The American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) thanks industrial hygiene professionals for their efforts that help protect America’s workforce.

Lansing, MI – WEBWIRE

In 1621, the Pilgrims celebrated what is known by Americans as the first Thanksgiving after their initial harvest in the New World.  During the Civil War, President Abraham Lincoln proclaimed a national day for Thanksgiving which made the holiday an annual tradition.

Millions of workers will spend the Thanksgiving holiday with their family and friends.  Others, particularly in the retail profession, continue to work around the holiday because of Black Friday and the official start of the holiday shopping season.

As Americans give thanks, the American Board of Industrial Hygiene would like to take this opportunity to thank the industrial hygiene community for all they do for workers and communities.  Industrial hygiene is the science of protecting and enhancing the health and safety of people at work and in their communities. Health and safety hazards cover a wide range of chemical, physical, biological and ergonomic stressors. Those dedicated to anticipating, recognizing, evaluating and controlling those hazards are known as Industrial Hygienists. They are professionals dedicated to the well-being of people – at work, at home and in the community.

“Certified Industrial Hygienists and the entire industrial hygiene profession deserve recognition from us all for what they do each and every day to keep us healthy and safe,” said Tracy Parsons, CIH, Administrative Program Manager at ABIH.  “ABIH says thank you to all these dedicated industrial hygiene professionals and wishes them all a happy and safe Thanksgiving.”
