Brazilian Running Brilliance: Gold and Bronze

The founder of www.createyourownlife.com.au Karen Long has returned from the World Masters Athletics Championships in Brazil 2013 with a gold and a bronze medal.

Ms. Long has made a remarkable return to athletics only 12 months ago and has since knocked out stellar performances including one gold, one silver and four bronze medals at the National Titles in Canberra, Australia in March 2013.
 
Ms Long travelled to Brazil in October 2013 to compete alongside thousands of athletes from around the world. Competing in the W35 division and made the finals of the 100m, 200m and 400m.
 
“Only a few years ago, I could not run at all,” said Ms Long.

“Making the finals for all my events was a great achievement. It puts me in the top eight in the world,” she said.
 
Ms Long was inspired to return to athletics after undertaking an exercise in the personal development program she sells as part of her online business.  The exercise in the program highlighted that she was in a comfort zone of exercise as a result of an eye injury playing netball in 2009. Having always enjoyed exercising, she made the decision to step out and do something that challenged her physically.
 
“The personal empowerment home study program has assisted people to quit smoking, lose weight, improve relationships and create wealth, just to name a few.”
 
Running a personal best time in the 100m, Ms Long finished 6th and equalled her personal best in the 200m finishing 8th and 7th in the 400m at the two week event.
 
She was selected to run in both the 4 x 100m and 4 x 400m relays where she won a gold and bronze respectively in an impressive performance.  As the first runner in the 4 x 400m, Ms Long got their team off to a great start, setting them up in second position, with her team ultimately winning the bronze medal.
 
“I am now looking forward to the Australian National Titles in 2014 as well as participating in more world events.”
