Roland Mouret Enlists Constance Mallet & Victor Gueret to Create Short Film of Spring/Summer 14 Accessories Line

Roland Mouret, known for supporting emerging talent, has commissioned young French duo Constance Maillet and Victor Gueret to create a series of dynamic short films that showcase the brand’s new SS14 collection in an artistic, transparent new light.

The series of short films will include a behind-the-scenes look at the Roland Mouret Spring/Summer 2014 runway show at Paris Fashion Week.

Further to the backstage showcase, the duo will create an aesthetic film that will use geometric, monochrome filming techniques to present the SS14 Accessories line with humour and light.

According to the duo themselves, the influences for the Roland Mouret projects are three words; Couture, Parisian and 2nd Degree. These themes are illustrated throughout the series of videos, storytelling films and photography that Maillet and Gueret will create.

The films bring a story to the new collection and feature classic French locations including the Jardin des Tuileries and the Palais Royal, after the 17th Century Parisian palace from which Roland Mouret drew inspiration for his SS14 collection.
The film will be shot within the grounds of the Palais Royal, and will present love stories: a man and a woman playing the game of love, within which the Roland Mouret accessories collection will play a starring role.

Speaking about how the Palais Royal inspired his new collection, Roland Mouret said: “It’s a place that I love, a place full of chaos yet at peace. A quiet hush from the chattering of Paris.

When Buren had the opportunity to transform the park, he used abstract pieces that initially caused mass uproar. Thirty-five years later, it remains one of the most beautiful contradictions in Paris.

It is what Paris is, both wild and tame. A garden that is as much as it is not, how the world becomes the opposite of what the world is. The wish to be lost and the need to be found.

Constance Maillet and Victor Gueret will present their aesthetic take on the Roland Mouret experience through various videos and photographs that will be unveiled later this year to coincide with the arrival of the accessories collections.

The first part of their film, a backstage showcase of the Roland Mouret Spring/Summer 2014 show at Paris Fashion Week, is now available to view online at the official Roland Mouret YouTube page:
Notes to Editors:
The Roland Mouret fashion brand (19RM Ltd) is a joint venture between Roland Mouret and Simon Fuller’s XIX entertainment. Formed in August 2006 as “RM by the designer Roland Mouret” it followed Mouret’s 8 years of critical acclaim within the global fashion industry. In September 2010 rights to the ‘Roland Mouret’ name were acquired by the venture and in March 2011 the first Roland Mouret store was opened at 8 Carlos Place, Mayfair, London, in the form of a “maison” with atelier and HQ on the premises.

Mouret has become recognised for the use of draping and for the “perfect” fitted dress, including the iconic Galaxy, Moon, Titanium and Pigalle styles. 2012 sees the launch of the Roland Mouret shoe and bridal collections as well as the expansion of its successful sunglasses line. Further global expansion is planned for 2013, after three consecutive years of strong double digit growth.
