SYDNEY, Australia — Visitors can experience a new and exciting way to explore the world when they visit National Geographic’s first retail store in Australia, open now at Sydney Airport. The store is a result of the joint venture between Heinemann Asia Pacific and local Australian retail specialist Souvenir World Group. Drawing on National Geographic’s 125-year heritage of inspiring people to care about the planet, National Geographic’s new store brings together its products and services in a constantly evolving, culturally inspired setting.

The National Geographic Sydney Store will welcome travellers with compelling visual displays and design dedicated to stimulating, educating and inspiring visitors to celebrate global cultures. Travellers can find National Geographic stores around the globe in Europe, Asia, America and now in Oceania. The new store will feature a wide selection of National Geographic products, including its award-winning magazines, books and DVDs. The store will also offer items designed for the rigors of adventure and exploration, from casual travel gear to multi-layered apparel suitable for diverse climates and activities. In addition to apparel, key product lines will include luggage, stationery, maps, globes and a wide selection of children’s products.

“Australia’s spirit of adventure lines up naturally with National Geographic’s core values of exploration, discovery and conservation,” said Alison Middleton, senior vice president of International Licensing at the National Geographic Society. “We’re excited to provide travellers with a unique and inspirational retail experience as they embark on their own journeys.”

Sydney Airport’s General Manager of Retail, Andrew Gardiner, said, “At Sydney Airport, we are constantly seeking to align our retail offerings with customer expectations. We’re delighted that Heinemann is delivering the National Geographic Store in Sydney, supporting us to bring yet another ‘first’ to the Australian airport retail market. It certainly fits with the demand for a sense of travel and adventure.”

Max Heinemann, Chief Procurement Officer at Heinemann Asia Pacific, said, “Customers entering the store will be exposed to a kaleidoscope of global experiences. We are looking forwarding to working with National Geographic.”

The new business will be operated by Travel Retail Australia Pty. Ltd., which is a joint venture between Heinemann Asia Pacific and Souvenir World Group. It will be located at Unit C2-144 at Terminal 1, International Terminal at Sydney Airport.
