Adelaide Sports Mindset Coach Reveals How Resilience In Sports is Key

ADELAIDE, Australia November 2013 – Elite athletes face challenges every day that create intense pressure on them and their performances – pressure that is rarely experienced in such intensity by the general public. Michael Jordan famously said, “I’ve failed over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed”, pointing to the fact that resilience in sport is key to achieving competitive sporting goals.

As an elite athlete who began her competitive sporting career in a wheelchair at aged 34, Stacey Copas understands setbacks and being behind the competition – but she bucked the trend and achieved success where most would have failed due to her commitment to building her own resilience. “Resilience in sport, and in life, is the key to my success,” says Stacey, arguably the best sports mindset coach in Adelaide and the Founder of Resilience for Results.

“I have experienced many challenges in my life but I’ve always had the mentality that I just need to keep going and keep moving towards my goals. I know that many people don’t, and that can be the make or break for their sporting careers, so I have designed programs specifically for other elite athletes, based on those principles and experiences, to help them build their resilience and achieve success in their chosen sport.”

Stacey has developed sports mindset training programs specifically for elite athletes and the unique challenges and pressures they face. Some programs are designed for groups and others are more intensive for individuals. Stacey’s programs for resilience in sport and sports mindset training are:

  • Practical resilience for sporting success - A 3-hour workshop to introduce the principles of resilience and their applications in elite sports. This session is designed for groups from 8-30 people and is interactive, giving participants the opportunity to improve their resilience and results in sport.
  • How to leverage adversity to succeed in sport and in life - A 12-week online training and coaching program that brings together one-on-one sessions with weekly group training and coaching sessions. This includes practical exercises to maximise implementation and, therefore, success on the field.
  • 90 day success accelerator program - Intensive one-on-one coaching over 90 days to build resilience and performance – completely individualised and tailored to the athlete’s unique circumstances.

“The resilience principles that I have developed for my programs have been instrumental in my success to date in the face of adversity in life and now in the sporting arena,” says Stacey.

Stacey has achieved success in elite athletics, despite starting at a later age, taught micro business to people with disabilities, been involved in a research project on disability inclusion in Cambodia, and now she has founded Resilience for Results to show athletes (through speaking, coaching and consulting) how to get results they want, even when things don’t go to plan. This is a woman who knows how to achieve goals.
