Super RTL Purchases a Package of Animated Series and Movies from Warner Bros.
Cannes, France – Super RTL closed a volume deal with Warner Bros. International Television Distribution, one of the world’s most renowned major film and television distributors with the largest library and the biggest output of all U.S. major studios. The package includes classic animated cartoons like “Scooby-Doo” and “Tom & Jerry” as well as a variety of high class animated films.
Super RTL’s CEO Claude Schmit: “The programming supply through Warner Bros. is a further strategic step to compensate the loss of Disney‘s programming supply in 2014. New long-term arrangements, the development of our self-produced knowledge magazines as well as the deal with Warner Bros. will enable us to defend our market leadership and to also keep our audience fascinated with the best programming.”
Programming Director Carsten Göttel is thrilled about the prominent new arrivals: “‘Tom & Jerry’ as well as ‘Scooby-Doo’ belong to the world’s best known cartoon figures. Their popularity remains over generations and they fit perfectly in our programming portfolio. The cartoon stars have found a new high class and adequate environment at Super RTL.”
Commented Jeffrey Schlesinger, President, Warner Bros. Worldwide Television Distribution: “This represents another successful deal in the German market. We are pleased that our animation titles, including the popular ‘Scooby-Doo’ and ‘Tom & Jerry’ franchises, will have a new free TV home with Super RTL, the market leader in the kid’s segment.”
