Ferrovial awarded contract to build a section of road in Medellín, Colombia, for 36 million euro

The consortium led by Ferrovial Agroman, Ferrovial’s construction subsidiary, will build a section of the road between Medellín and the access to the Pacific Ocean, in Antioquia Department in northwest Colombia. The contract is worth 36 million euro.

Madrid - The consortium led by Ferrovial Agroman, which includes Colombian company Colpatria, has been awarded a contract to build a section of the road that will connect Carrera 80 in Medellín with Pacific road, in the Department of Antioquia, in northwest Colombia. The contract is worth 89 billion Colombian pesos (36 million euro).

The consortium will build 4.1 kilometres of road (two lanes each way) as well as four bridges. The project is part of the road network development plans which will connect Medellín, Colombia’s second-largest city, with the Pacific ports.

This contract reinforces Ferrovial Agroman’s presence in the country, where it has several projects under way, including construction of the tunnels for the Ituango hydroelectric power plant, worth 55 million euro.

Colombia is among the South American countries with the greatest growth prospects and needs for investment in new infrastructure.
