USA – The “Disabled World Travels” series, published by Sovereign Education Media is a new series filled with safe travel tips designed to improve the way people with disabilities plan a trip. The author, Tracey Ingram, M.A., M.S, an experienced Occupational Therapist/Clinical Audiologist discusses in each volume of the series some of the problems encountered with specific disabilities and reveals the solutions to enjoy more successful travel experiences. The overall goal is to empower the consumer and provide solutions for the people with disabilities to overcome the barriers
The term “disabilities”, is very complex because it involves the individual with a disability and how society reacts. There are over 50 million people the United States with disabilities and over 180 million worldwide, who need solutions to overcome the barriers encountered when traveling. People with disabilities have the same health needs and rights as non-disabled people, however evidence suggest that people with disabilities face many barriers in accessing the health and services they need.
