Gala features SC Governor Nikki Haley and Fujifilm Corporate President and COO Shigehiro Nakajima

Greenwood, S.C., October 2, 2013 — As the worldwide leader in silver halide technology, Fujifilm knows silver. So it is appropriate that FUJIFILM Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc. celebrates its 25th – or silver – anniversary, beginning today with a series of events. Festivities include a gala dinner celebration held tonight at the Arts Council Building in Greenwood, featuring South Carolina Governor, Nikki Haley, and FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation President and COO, Shigehiro Nakajima.  Additional guests include Kazuo Sunaga, Japan Consul General for Southeast U.S., plus Federal, state and local elected officials as well as community leaders.

Special guests also include: members of the 1988 Greenwood County Council; daughters of Mrs. Inez Wells who sold the initial parcel of property to Fujifilm; other community members who have actively supported Fujifilm; and the Associates who live in the Greenwood community and work at the manufacturing facility.

“Having world-class companies like Fujifilm continuing to thrive here is a testament to South Carolina’s overall business-friendly environment,” said South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley.  “The lines of communication between our industry leaders and our administration are always open – allowing us to stay on top of what they need to succeed and providing South Carolinians with even greater employment opportunities.”

“As our business grew in the U.S., so did our need for manufacturing, so we began our search for the right location to build our production facility – and we chose Greenwood,” said Shigehiro Nakajima, president and COO, FUJIFILM Holdings Corporation.  “I am told that it all began with farmland and that the Greenwood employees in the local community helped transform it into the state-of-the-art manufacturing campus we have today.  Fujifilm Manufacturing also met the challenges of our time and transformed itself over these past 25 years, as it grows with the company’s new direction and objectives.”

As a gift to the Greenwood community, Fujifilm will also make a donation toward the development of a community park in the city center area.   “For over 15 years, the Greenwood Parks Foundation has been trying to develop a large county park for green space on this 54-acre site in the center of Greenwood,” said Billy Nicholson, chairman, Parks Commission, Greater Greenwood Parks & Trails Foundation.  “Fujifilm’s tremendous contribution is earmarked for a pavilion, and will be a much needed catalyst in making the park a reality.”

In addition, later this month, Fujifilm will host a celebration at the company’s 500-acre campus for its Associates and their family members.  Attendees will enjoy games, sports-challenge activities, arts-and-crafts for children, and a cookout.  The company will also hold factory tours; followed by live entertainment, and the evening ending with fireworks.

“Our Associates are the foundation of our company’s success,” said Tomoyoshi “John” Ueno, president, FUJIFILM Manufacturing U.S.A., Inc.  “And Associates are supported by their family members,” continued Ueno.  “Enjoying the celebration together and being able to share our workplace experiences with our families in the long run helps us all work together,” said Ueno.

“Fujifilm Manufacturing upholds the company’s long-time and proud tradition of superior quality in both our products and our customer service,” said Mr. Ueno. “And we’re looking forward to another 25 years of success.”
