MELBOURNE, Florida, August 8, 2006 — Harris Corporation (NYSE: HRS), a world leader in advanced avionics for military aircraft, today announced that it has been awarded a 9-month, $12.5 million contract by Boeing Integrated Defense Systems to provide the Distributed Targeting Processor (DTP) and the companion Mass Storage Unit (MSU) for the U.S. Navy’s F/A-18E/F Super Hornet aircraft.

The DTP and MSU will provide significant capability improvement in the area of network-centric operations for the Super Hornet. They will work together to effectively shorten the time from target sensing to shooting and will enhance precision targeting by applying advanced geo-referencing capabilities.

“Avionics programs associated with the Super Hornet are a core business for Harris and we are very pleased that Boeing has selected us once again to play a key role on this advanced aircraft platform,” said Sheldon Fox, vice president and general manager of the Department of Defense Programs business unit of the Harris Government Communications Systems Division. “The DTP and MSU development represents a product area expansion for Harris. We expect that similar technology will be used to upgrade onboard mission- and image-processing capabilities of other military airborne platforms going forward.”

Boeing previously awarded Harris contracts for advanced avionics work supporting the Super Hornet aircraft, including programs to develop the Fibre Channel Network Switch (FCNS) for the aircraft, as well as the development of the Tactical Airborne Moving Map Capability (TAMMAC) Digital Video Map Computer (DVMC) — a high-resolution mapping system — and its complementary Digital Memory Device (DMD) for cockpit data loading capability. This effort will significantly enhance the Super Hornet flight crew’s situational awareness and provide smaller, lighter, faster, higher-capacity, fiber-optic networking equipment on board the aircraft.
