Buy Sophie McKenzie’s Split Second from the Book People
Split Second, the latest novel from award-winning teen fiction writer Sophie McKenzie, is now available for the bargain price of just £6.49 from the Book People.
A worthy successor to such critically-acclaimed and commercially popular titles as Girl, Missing, Split Second is written from the perspective of its lead characters Nat and Charlie, who are drawn together in the aftermath of a terrorist attack on a London market. As Charlie finds out more about Nat and gets better acquainted with him, she starts to wonder whether he in fact knows more about the attack than he’s prepared to reveal.
“Split Second is a really gripping read, ideal for young fiction fans,” said Rachael Williams, editor at the Book People. “Sophie McKenzie has acquired a reputation for producing tense, spellbinding teen fiction and this latest book is no exception. We’re expecting it to prove very popular with our customers.”
McKenzie won the Red House Children’s Book Award for 2013, and the Book People recently caught up with the author to discuss the book and her influences. She revealed that although she had originally intended the book as a stand-alone title, she felt its lead characters could develop further and that a sequel to Split Second - titled Every Second Counts - was already in the works. The book is due to be released in autumn 2014.
Customers can also pick up Sophie McKenzie’s Medusa Project Collection from the Book People. This set of six books - priced at only £6.99 - follows the adventures of four teenagers gifted with psychic powers. Implanted with the titular Medusa gene as babies by rogue scientist William Fox, the youngsters come to join forces and use their powers for crime-fighting purposes.
