The Source and Engine7 To Host Grand Opening Party to Benefit Global Playing For Change Foundation
First-ever local event joins single-day worldwide effort to create positive change through music and arts education
For the first time ever, Denver will host a 1LOVE Playing For Change Day celebration, joining more than 500 musicians in more than 55 countries who will perform for charity on one day: September 21st, 2013.
Local media production company Engine7 today announced the details of the event - a block party hosted in conjunction with the public grand opening of The Source, the highly-anticipated, restaurant-driven, urban food market in the RiNo district.
The FREE block party will be on Saturday, September 21st from 3:00 – 9:00 p.m. at The Source, 3350 Brighton Blvd., Denver, CO 80216. The celebration of food, music and community will raise funds through the gourmet food and beverage merchants in The Source who will donate 10% of their total sales from the day to the Playing For Change Foundation, a worldwide non-profit dedicated to creating positive change through music and arts education.
Entertainment at the event will be donated by the musicians participating in Playing For Change Day and include reggae band JusGoodie and rock performers The Rob Drabkin Band, as well a special guest DJ appearance.
The three partners of Engine7, a Denver-based production company dedicated to producing media that educates and inspires, originally produced Playing For Change in 2005. The project was the inception of a multimedia movement to inspire, connect, and bring peace to the world through music.
At the block party, two of the founders, brothers Jeremy and Joel Goulder, will premiere never-before seen videos recorded around the world featuring Keith Richards, Toots Hibbert, Keb’ Mo’, Stephen Marley and others, with music that will be featured on the upcoming Playing For Change album.
