GSA Approves Northrop Grumman For Homeland Security Standard Identification Credential Solutions

MCLEAN, Va., Aug. 3, 2006 -- The U.S. General Services Administration (GSA) has approved Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE:NOC) to provide integrated solutions for Homeland Security Presidential Directive 12 (HSPD-12) implementations. This presidential mandate will create a standard identification credential with a biometric for enhanced authentication for all federal workers.

Northrop Grumman is now authorized by the GSA to provide products and services related to smart card enrollment and registration, card activation and finalization, card management and production, systems infrastructure and integration.

“As one of the largest GSA smart card contract systems integrators, we have demonstrated our capability to provide HSPD-12-compliant products and services,” said Kent Schneider, vice president of business development for Northrop Grumman’s Information Technology sector. “Northrop Grumman can support high volume enrollment on a national scale and our products and managed services address the full range of GSA certification requirements.”

The company currently provides managed services for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Customs and Immigration Application Support Centers. Northrop Grumman’s more than 1,000 certified fingerprint technicians at 136 locations throughout the U.S. verify I-9 employment eligibility documents and enroll more than 50,000 alien registrants per week.

Since 2003, Northrop Grumman has developed, piloted, and is deploying the Defense Cross Credentialing System (DCCIS) to all military facilities worldwide along with its secure, commercial counterpart, the Federation for Identity and Cross (FiXs) Credentialing System. The DCCIS and FiXs systems interoperate to authenticate credentials, on a federated basis, across organizational domains.
